Obrasafe is a company that manufactures and sells rigid injection-molded plastic helmets. It has just received an order for between 250,000 and 500,000 helmets. Laurel Skurko, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Obrasafe, must decide what price to quote for this order. To perform the necessary calculations and set a price, participants must assess what additional information is needed. The instructor can provide this information at a theoretical price per question asked. Participants must assess the advisability of asking questions in order to make the correct calculation. The case presents the opportunity for a real-life bidding exercise in which each team of participants must assume the role of the company. During the session, the professor analyzes the case and performs the corresponding calculations, analyzing the different types and systems of costing.
